ROSEBURG – Former Ridgeview High School volleyball coach Doug Magee has been hired as the new varsity coach at Roseburg High School, athletic director Russ Bolin announced on Tuesday.

Magee most recently coached at Ridgeview High School in Redmond. He coached two full seasons for the Ravens before resigning his head coaching position after the first game of the 2017 season, according to the Bend Bulletin. During his time with the team, Magee had an overall record of 19-25 and went 5-11 in two seasons in the 5A Intermountain League.

His team reached the postseason in 2015, but lost a play-in game against Sandy. The 2017 Ridgeview team went on to finish third in the Intermountain League after Magee resigned and lost in the play-in round.

Magee takes over for former coach Danielle Haskett, who did not have her contract renewed by the school board after players and parents made an allegation of bullying last season. An independent investigator looked into the allegations, but did not find that Haskett broke any school district policies.
