CRESWELL – Roseburg sophomore Bryce Thomason shot 2-over par in the second round of the OSAA golf state championship Tuesday to lead the RHS boys to an 11th place finish as a team.

The Roseburg team had the eighth best team score in the second round and moved up one spot from where it finished after round one on Monday.

Thomason carded a 74 on Tuesday to record the second lowest round of the day. The low score was a 73, shot by individual champ Nate Stember of Lincoln and Brody Marconi of Jesuit, who finished tied for second overall. The sophomore finished tied for 8th overall.

All five of the Roseburg boys shot under 100 on day two of the tournament, cutting seven strokes off their day one total. Hunter Endicott shot an 85 in round two and finished tied for 42nd overall. Dylan Guido finished with a second round score of 90 and placed 78th overall. Josh Alexander finished tied for 68th after carding a 93 on his second round. Koby Gilbert dropped 17 strokes from day one to day two and scored a 95. He placed 86th overall. Endicott, Alexander, and Guido are all seniors for the Indians.

The Roseburg girls golf team remained in eighth place after the final scores were calculated at the state golf tournament in Corvallis. The girls had hoped to drop some strokes and climb the leader board, but finished one stroke behind their team total from the first round.

Freshman Lauren Sandfort tallied the lowest day two score for Roseburg. She finished with an 85 and wound up tied for 48th overall. Her older sister Ally Sandfort had Roseburg’s best two-day total after shooting an 86 in round two. She placed 32nd.

The lone senior on the girl’s golf team, Avry Hansen, shot an 89 and finished tied for 44th overall. Makayla Walker was consistent, shooting a 96 on both days of the tourney. She finished tied for 68th. And sophomore Taylor Hunt dropped four strokes and finished with a 124 in round two.
