SISTERS – At the Sky-Em League track and field meet Thursday, Sutherlin’s Kiersten Porter qualified for state in what she hopes will be her first event. The senior set a new personal record in the javelin and finished first with a throw of 113-01. She beat the second place finisher by nine inches.
Porter qualified for state in the shot put last year and will aim to do the same again when the district meet continues on Saturday. She will also compete in discus.
The Sky-Em League track and field tournament continues on Saturday at Sisters High School.
