MEDFORD – It was a banner day for many of Roseburg’s track and field athletes on Wednesday at North Medford High School as the Indians wrapped-up the regular season schedule with some of their best performances of the year.

The Roseburg boys team scored a 77-68 win over the Black Tornado, while girls had some highlights but lost 84.33-60.66.

Hunter Agsten won two long-distance races for Roseburg and set top marks in both. Agsten won the 800-meters with a personal best time of 2:07.41. The junior also won the 1,500-meters with a season-best time of 4:17.85. Merhawi Lake set a new personal record in the 200-meters, winning with a time of 23.25 and Josiah Buster won the 3,000-meters with a season-best time of 9:56.21.

The RHS boys also dominated the throwing competitions. Tyler Sconce led the Indians as they swept the top three spots in the shot put and the discus. Scone won the shot with a toss of 52-00.50. Carson Ellis took second and Hunter Hillard placed third. In the discus, Sconce won with a throw of 153-08. Dalton Rasmussen took second and Zachary Shilts placed third.

On the girl’s side, Gracious Lusby won the 200-meters with a season-best time of 26.64. Gretchen Lucido also highlighted the RHS girl’s performance with a PR throw of 112-04 to win the javelin.

The Roseburg track and field program will now get ready for the Southwest Conference district meet coming up next Thursday and Saturday at Bowerman Field in Medford.
