ROSEBURG – The Roseburg softball team locked up a postseason berth with a 14-6 win over the South Medford Panthers on Tuesday. The win guarantees the Indians at least a top four finish in the Southwest Conference, which automatically advances Roseburg to the first round of the 6A state playoffs later this season.

An eight-run fourth inning spurred the Indians to the victory. South Medford started the game with a 3-1 lead, but a two-run homer from Maria Bacigalupo ignited the Tribe in the fourth. Madysn Blevins also hit a two-run blast as the Indians finished with 14 hits.

Blevins surrendered 10 hits in the game, but picked up her 12th win of the season.

The Tribe is still battling for home field advantage in the first round with five games left to play. Up next, Roseburg will visit Sheldon for a league doubleheader on Saturday. The Irish are right with the Indians in the chase for the postseason.
