MEDFORD – The Roseburg girl’s golf team clinched a berth in the 6A state golf championship tournament later this month by going undefeated in Southwest Conference tournaments this season. The Indians wrapped up the regular season with a team win at the Rogue Valley Country Club in Medford on Monday.
Roseburg shot a team total of 359 to beat out second place Grants Pass by 23 strokes. Freshman Lauren Sandfort placed third in the individual standings and led Roseburg with a score of 82. She finished two-strokes behind the first place finishers. Willamette’s Tannica Porter and South Medford’s Kristen Reed each shot an 80 to tie for first.
Avry Hansen shot a season-best 84 to finish fourth in the tournament. Alexandra Sandfort shot an 88.
The Roseburg girls will now have two weeks before competing in the state tournament at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis on May 14-15.
