CORVALLIS – Cadyn Grenier and Troy Claunch each homered, and Steven Kwan and Michael Gretler both tallied three hits to send fifth-ranked Oregon State to a 6-5 win over Arizona State Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

The win sent the Beavers to the series victory, and pushed Oregon State to a 32-7 overall record and 12-6 mark in Pac-12 Conference play. Arizona State, meanwhile, dropped to 18-25 overall and 10-11 versus league foes.

Grenier opened OSU’s scoring with a two-run home run in the first, then watched as Troy Claunch hit the first of his career in the second. Preston Jones reached on an infield single in the third that also scored a run to make it 4-1 OSU.

The Sun Devils tied the game at four in the third, then went ahead with a solo run in the sixth.

Thus came the Oregon State comeback.

Trevor Larnach doubled to open the seventh, and scored on Gretler’s third hit of the game, a single up the middle. Three batters later, Claunch drove a sacrifice fly to right for the game-winning run.

Kwan singled three times and walked twice to reach base all five times. Gretler’s three hits pushed him to 11 multi-hit efforts on the year. Jones had two hits for his fourth multi-hit game of the season.

Oregon State finished with 13 hits and tallied 33 over the three games versus the Sun Devils.

Dylan Pearce held Arizona State to four hits and a run in 3 2/3 innings of relief. He struck out four en route to the win, his second of the year. Jake Mulholland earned his 12th save of the year after 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Eli Lingos started for ASU, and allowed 13 hits and six runs in seven innings. He took the loss, dropping to 6-4 in 2018.
