ROSEBURG – The Roseburg golf teams defended their home course well on Monday, winning a Southwest Conference girls tournament as a team and taking the individual championship in the boy’s tourney.

The Indians hosted the conference tournaments at the Roseburg Country Club. The RHS girls finished two strokes ahead of Grants Pass for a first place finish. Alexandra Sandfort carded an 83 to lead the Roseburg team. She placed third in the individual standings. Teammates Avry Hansen and Lauren Sandfort also finished in the top 10. Hansen shot an 87 to finish fifth and Sandfort placed sixth with a round of 91.

On the boy’s side, sophomore Bryce Thomason carded an even par 72 to win the individual championship and lead Roseburg to a second place finish. South Eugene claimed the team title by 12 strokes.

Thomason scored three birdies on the front nine and notched an eagle on the 10th hole. His round of 72 was his lowest of the season.

Hunter Endicott was the only other Roseburg golfer to place in the top 10. He finished sixth with a score of 83.

Both Roseburg golf teams will be back to action on Wednesday. The girls golf team will play at Centennial Golf Club in Medford, while the boys will go to Dutcher Creek Golf Course in Grants Pass.
