Douglas baseball took care of Far West League rival South Umpqua in a game that was postponed from Tuesday. The Trojans scored nine runs from the fourth through the sixth innings to pull ahead for a 9-5 win over the Lancers.

South Umpqua led 3-0 on a Jonathan Warner homer in the third inning. Douglas scored twice in the fourth and took the lead with three runs in the fifth. Noah Burke got the win for Douglas, pitching into the seventh inning.

Douglas and South Umpqua will meet in Tri-Cities for a doubleheader on Friday.

South Umpqua softball shutout Douglas 11-0 in five innings behind a no-hitter from pitcher Tayah Kelley. Shalyn Gray and Aaliyah Rudy each hit home runs in the contest for the Lancers.

The Roseburg tennis teams defeated South Eugene in conference duals on Wednesday. The boys dominated the doubles competition on the way to a 6-2 win at home. The girls also won 6-2 against the Axe in Eugene.

The Grants Pass track and field teams claimed victory over Roseburg on Wednesday in a conference dual meet at Grants Pass High School. Despite the team losses, the Indians had a number of individual victories.

RHS did well in the sprints. D’Angelo Adams won the boys 100 meters in 11.38 and Gracious Lusby placed first in the girls 100 meters with a time of 13.03.  Merhawi Lake won the 200 with a PR time of 23.40.

Roseburg’s Tyler Scone won the shot put and the discus. Dalton Rasmussen won the javelin. Mayah Pappas won the girls long jump and Fletcher Brower claimed a win in the boy’s triple jump.

Up next for RHS track and field is the Central Coast Invitational on Friday.

The Roseburg boys lacrosse team suffered its first league loss of the season in a battle for first place in the Southwest Conference. The Indians fell 11-7 to Sheldon on Wednesday. The Irish took over sole possession of first place with a 3-0 record. The Tribe fell into a three-way tie for second with a 2-1 record.
