MEDFORD – The Roseburg softball team took care of business against the defending 6A state champions Tuesday night in Medford. The Indians put up 10-hits in a 6-3 win over Southwest Conference leader North Medford and ended a 10-game winning streak for the Black Tornado.
Roseburg’s Jordan Gibson went 3-for-4 and got the scoring started with a double in the third inning. She scored later that inning on a triple by Katie Ladd as the Indians took a 3-2 lead through three innings.
The Tribe added two more runs in the fifth and another insurance run in the seventh. Madysn Blevins picked up her ninth win, allowing six hits, only one earned run, and striking out two.
The loss was North Medford’s (13-3; 8-1 SWC) first of the conference season. Roseburg’s win moved it ahead of Sheldon for third place.
Up next, the Roseburg (9-6; 6-3 SWC) girls will host South Eugene (4-12; 2-7 SWC) for a conference doubleheader on Saturday.
