MEDFORD – The Roseburg track and field team excelled in the throwing events at its first Southwest Conference dual meet of the season on Wednesday, but the Indians fell short of claiming team victories against the South Medford Panthers.

Roseburg claimed victory in both the boys and girls shot put, discus, and javelin competitions in Medford. Senior Tyler Sconce won the boys shot put (51′ 0.25″) and discus (145′ 9″), while senior Isabella Hill won the same events on the girl’s side (Shot: 33′ 5.25″, Discus: 106′ 9″).

Dalton Rasmussen claimed victory in the boy’s javelin with a throw of 171 feet, 10 inches. Junior Gretchen Lucido won the girl’s javelin with a PR throw of 98 feet, 10 inches.

The Indians also won both pole vault events. Sophomore Blake Johnson cleared 10 feet to win the boy’s competition and Patricia Morhain was first in the girl’s pole vault with a PR of 7 ½ feet.

The RHS boys also won the 100 meter sprint (D’Angelo Adams, 11.51) and the 300 meter hurdles (Julian Wood, 42.85).

Up next for the RHS track and field program will be the annual Pepsi and Bigfoot Beverages Jim Robinson Twilight Invitational held at Finlay Field. The 24-team event will run Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m.
