EVERETT, WA – The Umpqua women’s basketball team is headed back to the Final Four at the NWAC basketball tournament behind a record setting performance from sophomore Daisy Powell.

Powell poured in 46 points to guide top-ranked Umpqua to a 93-66 over No. 5 Columbia Basin Friday afternoon. The RiverHawks will play the winner of Lower Columbia and Bellevue next weekend in Everett, WA.

The RiverHawks were pestered by Columbia Basin’s defense and turned the ball over 36 times. Yet, when UCC held on to the ball, there was no stopping Powell. She shot 21-of-23 and converted 4-of-9 free throws. She added 16 rebounds and two blocked shots. Her 46 points tied a tournament record for most points in a single game and her 21 made field goals set a new conference record for most made field goals in a tournament game.

The rest of Umpqua’s starting lineup provided plenty of support while Powell was putting up the points. Jordan Stotler added 16 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots. Taylor Stricklin scored 19 and had seven assists. Bria Thames pulled down a team-high 18 rebounds, while Alyssa Grenfell dished out a team-high 13 assists.

Umpqua will next play on Saturday, March 17 at 6 p.m.
