SUTHERLIN – The Sutherlin girls broke open an eight-point game with a devastating third quarter, outscoring Sweet Home 19-0 on the way to a 49-21 victory Saturday night at Sutherlin High School.

Kiersten Haines caught fire with three 3-pointers and 13 points in the quarter and Kiersten Porter added six more in the period, as the Bulldogs blew it open for a 36-9 lead going to the fourth.

Haines finished with 19 to lead all scorers, while Paige Bailey added 10 and Megan Carillo and Porter each had eight.

The Bulldogs stay in the playoff race with the win. They move to 4-2 in the Sky-Em League, just a game behind second place Junction City. The Bulldogs will host Elmira Tuesday night at Sutherlin in the third of five straight home games for the Bulldogs.
