JUNCTION CITY – Junction City jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first quarter of Tuesday night’s Sky-Em League contest and kept the lead the rest of the game, topping Sutherlin 48-37 on the Tigers’ home court.
The Tigers led 18-11 after the first period and 26-18 at halftime. Sutherlin never managed to cut the deficit to less than a seven-point margin.
Senior Madison Mehlbrech scored 17 points to lead Junction City (12-4, 3-1 Sky-Em).
Sutherlin (7-11, 2-2 Sky-Em) didn’t have a player in double figures. Kiersten Haines had nine points with two 3-pointers and Kiersten Porter had eight, all of those in the first half.
The Bulldogs host Sisters Friday night in their first home game since Jan. 2.
