VANCOUVER, WA – The top-ranked Umpqua women racked-up their 18th consecutive victory with a 74-41 win over the Clark Penguins on Saturday.

UCC jumped ahead big in the first half. Umpqua built a 37-16 advantage and just added to the margin in the second half. Taylor Stricklin scored a game-high 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting to lead the undefeated RiverHawks.

Umpqua (18-0; 5-0 South) remains tied for first with Clackamas (14-3; 5-0 South) in the NWAC South Region.

The Umpqua men struggled to keep up with a hot-shooting Clark team and lost 93-78 Saturday night.

UCC built a 41-34 in the first half, but shot just 35% from the floor in the second half. The Penguins were red-hot after the break, shooting 61% from the field. A 12-1 run by Clark (3-7; 2-4 South) midway through the second half gave the Penguins a four-point advantage and they never trailed again.

Eric Klekas scored 20-points to lead Umpqua (12-6; 3-2 South) in defeat. The loss was the RiverHawks’ second in league play.

Up next for the Umpuqa men and women is a home series against Chemeketa on Wednesday.
