ROSEBURG – The Roseburg wrestling team had six individuals finish on the podium at the Reser’s Tournament of Champions in Hillsboro on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to defend last year’s team title as the Tribe placed fourth in the team standings.

Roseburg’s Hunter Sparks and Terrell Jacks finished runner-up in their weight class at the tournament. Sparks, the top seed at 120 pounds, suffered a sudden victory 4-2 loss to second-seed Zeth Brower of Crater. Jacks, the sixth-seed at 195 pounds, upset his way to the championship bout, but was pinned by top seed Santos Cantu of Sprague.

Austin David and Garrett Russell each earned third place finishes for the Tribe, Brandon Jeffers took fifth at 182 pounds, and Logan Folsom took sixth at 170 pounds.

Roseburg finished fourth behind overall winner Crook County, Dallas, and Newberg.

The Indians’ JV team took first at the Reser’s Tournament. Roseburg had six wretlers finish first and compiled 300 points to out score second place Newberg by 86 points.

Finishing first for the Tribe were Kahleb Diaz, Archer Bergeron, Ethan Stoner, Bryson Diaz, Doran Gillespie, and Cody Van Sickle.

Up next for Roseburg will be the final conference dual of the season. The Indians will visit Grants Pass on Wednesday.
