ROSEBURG – In a battle of teams still seeking their first conference win, South Eugene started hot and the Roseburg girls couldn’t make up the difference in a 48-37 loss Friday night.

The Indians fell behind 15-5 in the first quarter, but played South Eugene (7-9; 1-3 SWC) almost equal over the final three periods. The Roseburg girls got the deficit dow to just seven after the third quarter, but South Eugene wouldn’t relent in the fourth quarter.

Samie Bergmann scored a game-high 14 points to lead Roseburg (6-9; 0-4 SWC) and Jalen Robles added eight.

Madison McGowen and Hannah Stein each netted 10 points to lead South Eugene.

Up next for the Roseburg girls is a home date with North Medford on Tuesday.
