ROSEBURG – The Umpqua RiverHawks pulled off a sweep against the Southwestern Oregon Lakers Wednesday night.

The No. 1 ranked Umpqua women turned a close game into a runaway 93-63 victory over the Lakers. UCC led by only four midway through the second quarter, but a 12-4 run to finish the half gave the RiverHawks a 12-point advantage.

Umpqua continued to stretch its lead in the second half. UCC’s largest lead of the game was the 30-point margin at the end.

Bria Thames led five Lady RiverHawks in double figures with 21 points. Jordan Stotler added a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds.

In the men’s game, Umpqua and SWOCC traded the lead six times and saw it tied nine times as the contest went to overtime. In the extra session, UCC outscored the Lakers 14-10 for a 99-95 victory.

Connor Shaw scored 18 of his team-high 26 points in the second half to pace the RiverHawks to their sixth win in seven games.

Up next for the UCC basketball teams is a visit to Clark College for league games on Saturday.
