SWEET HOME – The Sutherlin boys basketball team opened the Sky-Em League season with a 51-39 win on the road at Sweet Home Friday night.
The Bulldogs led from the start and built an eight-point lead at halftime. Sutherlin was able to hold the advantage through the second half.
Sutherlin (9-6, 1-0 Sky-Em) was led by Mason Gill with 17 points and Albert Christianson with 16 . Brandon Carr had eight points with two 3-pointers.
Colton Smith had 15 for Sweet Home ( 5-9, 0-1 Sky-Em). He had three 3-point shots.
The Sutherlin boys ended a two-game losing streak with the victory. They are on the road again Tuesday night when they visit Elmira.
