SWEET HOME – The Sutherlin girls basketball team snapped a six-game losing streak with a 59-26 win over Sweet Home Friday night.

Kiersten Haines led the way with 20 points, including three 3-pointers. Sophomore Carmen Ganger got 14 in her first start, including 6-of-8 from the free throw line. Freshman Paige Bailey chipped in 13 points with two 3-pointers.

Sweet Home (1-13, 0-1) was led by senior Kayla Miller with 12.

Sutherlin (5-9, 1-0) led 19-4 after a period and 30-8 at halftime and were never seriously threatened after that.

Sutherlin plays at Elmira Tuesday night, the third of five straight road games.
