ROSEBURG – The Roseburg boys basketball team rallied from an 11-point deficit to tie the score late in the fourth quarter against Willamette, but the Wolverines sealed a 70-59 victory by sinking free throws down the stretch on Friday night.

The Wolverines pulled ahead 30-19 with just under three minutes left to go before halftime. Roseburg managed to battle back to within six, but a last second bucket by Dylan Reichenberger gave Willamette a 34-26 edge at the break.

The Indians cut the deficit down to five by the end of the third quarter and, with 3:20 left to go in the fourth quarter, Collin Warmouth tied the game at 57 with an acrobatic driving lay-in.

Despite the momentum, Roseburg finished the on a cold streak. Willamette finished on a 13-2 run with nine of those points coming from the free throw line.

Cody Johnson made six three-pointers and led Roseburg with 22 points. Warmouth scored 15 points in Roseburg’s second half rally and finished with 19.

Willamette had 10 players score in the game, led by Luke Burke who finished with 15. Seth Skeele added 13 points and Reichenberger went 7-for-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to contribute 9.

Up next, Roseburg will try to bounce back from two frustrating losses with a home game against South Medford on Tuesday.
