COOS BAY – The Sutherlin girls basketball team missed an opportunity to win in regulation and then missed another opportunity in overtime to put away North Bend, but the brown Bulldogs got the only basket in overtime to win a 30-28 thriller.

Sutherlin (5-9) trailed 8-2 after a quarter, but battled back and eventually tied the game at 28-28 at the end of regulation.

Kierstan Haines made four three-pointers and led Sutherlin with a game-high 14 points. Kierstan Porter finished with seven points including a three-pointer.

Junior Haley Snelgrove led North Bend (4-9) with 12 points, including the only made basket in the overtime session.

Sutherlin will visit Sweet Home on Friday to begin Sky-Em League play.
