SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Former Oregon State head coach Gary Andersen has found a landing spot after leaving his job with the Beavers’ football team in October. Andersen was announced as an assistant head coach and defensive assistant for the Utah Utes Tuesday morning. A former player and coach at Utah, Andersen will join Kyle Whittingham’s staff for a second time.
Andersen previously coached at Utah under Whittingham from 2005-08, serving as defensive coordinator, assistant head coach, and defensive line coach. He spent two-and-a-half seasons with the Beavers and compiled a 7-23 record. Andersen only coached the first six games in 2017 before coming to a mutual agreement with the university to part ways.
