ALOHA – The Roseburg boys basketball held Aloha off for three quarters, but the Warriors stormed ahead in the fourth and sealed a 57-49 win from the free throw line on Thursday night.

Roseburg jumped out to a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter, but Aloha would finish the quarter on an 8-2 run and trailed the Indians by only one going to the second. The Tribe continued to hold small leads over the Warriors the rest of the first half and went into the break up by three.

Aloha took its first lead on a lay-in by Cobi Wilson with 4:26 left to play in the third quarter. The advantage didn’t last long as the Indians retook the lead and was up 34-32 heading to the fourth quarter.

The Warriors didn’t need long to regain the edge. About a minute into the fourth quarter, Aloha went in front of Roseburg and the Warriors slowly started to pull ahead. Aloha sealed the win by making its free throws. The Warriors went 14-for-19 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to build as much as a 10-point advantage.

Aloha’s Justin Vanaken went 7-for-8 from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter to finish with a team-high 15 points. Trey Hornbuckle added 11 for the Warriors.

Cody Johnson scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Indians. He made 6-of-8 from the floor and went 3-for-3 from behind the arc. Collin Warmouth had an off night on the offensive end and finished with 11. He went 0-for-7 from three-point land. Jon Crince added 10 for the Indians.

The loss ended Roseburg’s win streak at four games. Up next for the Indians is a trip to Medford for the Abby’s Holiday Classic. Roseburg will face Forest Grove in the first round of the tournament on Wednesday.
