ROSEBURG – The Roseburg boys basketball team struggled early on with Centennial’s suffocating zone defense, but the Indians rallied in the second half and held off the Eagles for a 55-52 win Tuesday night.

Roseburg fell behind Centennial by 10 points in the second quarter and trailed 27-20 at the halftime break. The Indians came out of the locker room inspired and started the second half with an 8-0 run to move in front.

The Tribe built a six-point lead midway through the fourth quarter, but Centennial fought its way back to within a possession in the closing moments. Collin Warmouth scored the Indians’ final six points from the free throw line to keep Roseburg in front.

Centennial had a chance to tie the game with 5.7 seconds left in regulation. The Eagles got the ball to David Kunda, who took the final shot and made a three, but didn’t get the ball off before the buzzer.

Warmouth finished with a game-high 21 points for Roseburg. He was aided by Cody Johnson’s 17 points and another 10 from Jonathan Stone.

Kunda had 19 points to lead Centennial (0-7). Senior TJ Tyler added 18 for the Eagles.

The Indians have now won four-straight games and improve to 6-1 on the year. Up next, Roseburg will travel to Aloha for a nonconference game against the Warriors on Thursday.
