COOS BAY — Coquille turned a close game into a 20-point victory Thursday night at
the Les Schwab South Coast Holiday Tournament in Coos Bay, beating the Sutherlin Bulldogs
63-43 in a first round game of the tournament.
Sutherlin (4-2) kept hanging around until senior guard Henry Scolari broke loose for
12 points in the third quarter and six more in the fourth on his way to a 26-point
game.
The Bulldogs were led by Riley Westbrooks with 15, including four three-pointers. Mason Gill added 9 and James Bailey came off the bench to get six.
The Bulldogs lost Brandon Carr to a possible knee injury and he is not expected to
return in the tournament.
Coquille (7-0) outscored the Bulldogs 18-7 in the final period to advance to the
semifinals of the tournament Friday afternoon against Philomath.
Sutherlin fell to the loser’s bracket against North Bend, which lost to Philomath in the
opening round. The game will tipoff at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. The contest will not be carried on the radio.
