EUGENE – Collin Warmouth scored 24 points and the Roseburg boy’s basketball team finished with three players in double figures in a 59-45 victory against the North Eugene Highlanders on Friday night in Eugene.

Roseburg trailed North Eugene for almost all of the first half, but took the lead for good with about 60 seconds remaining before the break. The Indians went on an 11-2 run over the final 3:30 in the second quarter. Cody Johnson hit a pair of free throws with 2:17 left to go that gave Roseburg its first lead. Then, with about a minute left, Merhawi Lake made one of two free throws to give the Tribe the lead again. They would never trail again.

Jon Crince capped Roseburg’s first half rally with a buzzer-beating three-pointer that gave the Indians a 23-17 advantage going to the locker room.

Roseburg built a double-digit lead In the second half, but North Eugene managed to cut the deficit down to single digits on multiple occasions. The Highlanders even got back to within six points in the third quarter, but the Indians always managed to stretch the lead back out.

The edge for Roseburg got to as much as 15 points in the fourth quarter.

Cody Johnson and Jon Crince added 10 and 13 points, respectively, for Roseburg. Merhawi Lake netted eight points off the bench.

Ivan Enciso-Gonzalez led North Eugene with 14 points and was the only Highlander in double figures.

The win gives Roseburg its first three-game winning streak of the year and gives the Indians their fifth win of the year. Last season, Roseburg finished with a 5-18 overall record.
