SUTHERLIN — Sutherlin jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the first quarter Tuesday night and rode the 18 points of senior Harlee Baker and 10 from sophomore Kierstan Haines to a 37-25 win over North Valley in a non-league contest at Sutherlin High School.

The Bulldogs had a nine-point lead at halftime and held that through the rest of the game. They hit 7-of-8 free throws and had two three-point shots, both by Haines. Baker was 6-for-6 from the line.

Sutherlin improved to 3-2 for the season. North Valley, which dropped to 1-4 for the season, was led in scoring by Traylyn Arana with eight points.

Sutherlin heads for the 3-day Les Schwab South Coast Holiday Invitational Tournament at Marshfield High School on Thursday opening play at 4 p.m. against Coquille.
