NORTH BEND, ORE. – The Roseburg wrestling team went down to the wire, but finished as the runner-up in the team scores at the North Bend Coast Classic on Saturday.

The Tribe finished with 203.5 points and placed behind tournament champion Crook County, which scored 225 points. The Indians were led by senior Hunter Sparks, who won the individual title at 126-pounds. Sparks was named the outstanding wrestler for the tournament at the lighter weights.

Roseburg had eight other wrestlers place in the top five of their weight class. Brandon Jeffers took second at 195-pounds, seniors Garrett Russell and Terrell Jacks each finished third in their weight classes, Ethan Stoner placed fourth at 160-pounds, and Thomas Spence, Caleb Jeffers, Collin Reitmann, and Logan Folsom all placed fifth.

Up next the Roseburg wrestling team will host North Medford for a conference dual on Wednesday.

The Douglas Trojans had six wrestlers at the Coast Classic, but the Trojans didn’t place anyone in the top six and finished 29th in the teams standings.
