HILLSBORO – The Roseburg boys basketball team overcame a 12-point deficit in the third quarter and prevailed in double overtime with a 60-58 win over the Century Jaguars on Friday in Hillsboro.

The Indians battled back from the double digit deficit but still trailed Century 46-40 with only 24 seconds remaining in regulation. Roseburg’s Collin Warmouth cut the margin in half with a pull-up jumper from behind the arch with 15 seconds left to play.

Still needing another 3-point play, Roseburg (2-0) had to get the ball back. Noah Medak came up with two big defensive plays on the ensuing inbound pass for Century. On the Jaguars first attempt, Medak knocked the ball out of bounds. On the following attempt, Medak disrupted Century’s Daniel Berger and the ball slipped through his hands and out of bounds.

The Tribe got one last chance with 11 seconds left to go. Warmouth tried to work free for a three-point shot, but couldn’t lose his defender. The ball ended up in the hands of Jon Crince as the time wound down. His game-tying shot was well off the mark, but he was fouled as he followed through. Crince drained three big free throws to tie the game and the contest went to overtime.

Both sides managed just four points in the first overtime period, but the Indians pulled ahead in the second overtime session. Century (1-1) hit a three just before the buzzer, but ran out of time to get any closer.

Roseburg started the game by building an 8-0 lead, but then went scoreless for nearly five minutes. Century exploded for a 15-0 run and held a five point advantage after the first eight minutes. The Jaguars held the edge through the rest of regulation until Roseburg tied the game in the final seconds.

Warmouth scored a game-high 22 points for his second straight game with 20-plus points. Crince and Carson Ellis each added 10 points. Brayden Johnson scored 21 points to lead Century.

The Indians get back to action on Tuesday with another road game. Roseburg visits Thurston at 6:45 p.m. Broadcast coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. on 1490 The Score and online at 541radio.com.
