ROSEBURG – The Roseburg girls basketball team suffered a lopsided 52-29 loss to the Marist Spartans in their home opener on Friday night.

The Spartans pulled ahead by seven in the first quarter, but really separated from the Indians in the second quarter. Roseburg managed only two points against the Marist defense in the second period and trailed 31-12 at the break.

The Tribe found some offense in the third quarter, but couldn’t catch-up to Marist’s offense. Emma McKenney scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Spartans.

Roseburg’s Jalen Robles led the Indians with seven, Amaya Goins added six, and Emily Wheeler scored five.

Up next, Roseburg will host the Thurston Colts on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m.
