ROSEBURG – Wednesday is the start of an early signing period for student-athletes committing to college basketball, baseball, softball, and track and field teams.
Roseburg grad and Umpqua Community College sophomore Jordan Stotler is signing a letter of intent with Portland State University Wednesday to continue her basketball career in 2018-19. The Vikings weren’t the only Division I school looking at Stotler. UCC women’s basketball coach Dave Stricklin told the News Review that UC Santa Barbara and Boise State were also interested.
Stotler was a two-time All-Southwest Conference selection for Roseburg and earned a clean sweep of awards at UCC after her freshman season. The 6-foot-4 post was named the Southern Region MVP, Freshman of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year.
The Umpqua women begin their season on November 19 against Simpson College.
