ROSEBURG – The Roseburg High School Booster Club, an organization that has long supported Roseburg athletics and other aspects of the school, has undergone an organizational change and is moving forward with a new name, structure, and mission.
The Booster Club announced Wednesday that it has filed a name change with the state and will now be known as the Roseburg High School Foundation. The Foundation will continue to generate funds for supporting scholarships, classroom grants, and special projects, much like the Booster Club has done for decades.
A group of community members, including Booster Club officers and other volunteers, have been working for over a year to research and develop the best ways to impact the school and community. With the changes comes a new board of directors and bylaws.
The new 15-member board of directors includes elected officers. Brian Prawitz was elected the organizations’ President. Former Roseburg High School principal Karen Goirigolzarri was voted Vice President, Brett Moyer, a Roseburg High School graduate and branch manager at Rogue Credit Union, will serve as Secretary, and Tom Davidson, a retired certified public accountant, will act as Treasurer.
According to a press release from the Roseburg High School Foundation, the Booster Club distributed $5,000 in classroom grants last year and another $5,000 in scholarships. The Foundation hopes to be able to make much larger distributions in the future.
