PORTLAND – The Portland Trail Blazers came up short in their bid for their first three-game winning streak of the season.

Portland’s CJ McCollum scored a game-high 36 points, but missed the game winning shot just before the final buzzer and the Memphis Grizzlies left Rip City with a 98-97 victory on Tuesday night.

The Blazers had the ball with 12.1 seconds remaining after an instant replay review overturned an out of bounds ruling. McCollum got the ball to the left elbow with 3.7 seconds left to go, but came up short with his shot. He managed to get his own rebound, but ran out of time to get a shot off.

It was an off night shooting for Damian Lillard, who finished with a season-low 12 points. Lillard’s dozen points snapped a streak of four straight games with 30 or more points.

Tyreke Evans scored 21 points off the bench to lead Memphis. Former Oregon Duck Dillon Brooks made his third start for the Grizzlies and had seven points and eight rebounds.

Up next for Portland is another home game against the Brooklyn Nets on Friday. The game tips off at 7 p.m.
