The Roseburg football team had eight players earn All-Southwest Conference honors after the most successful season for the Indians since 2014.

Roseburg’s leading tackler Zack Mandera was voted first team All-Conference at linebacker to lead the Indian’s selections. Mandera was an honorable mention selection as a sophomore in 2016 and was one of only two returning All-Conference players for the Tribe. Senior Tyler Sconce was the only other returning All-Conference selection from 2016, but missed a majority of the season due to a pectoral injury.

Senior Garrett Russell and sophomore Doran Gillespie each earned second team honors to lead the group of first-time selections from Roseburg. Russell finished the year as Roseburg’s top receiver with over 461 yards on 39 catches. Gillespie was Roseburg’s leading rusher with 615 yards and seven touchdowns.

The rest of Roseburg’s awards were honorable mention selections. Seniors Brendan Ibarra and Brandon Jeffers were joined by junior tackle Thomas Ruth on the offensive side of the ball. Russell earned his second award as a defensive back. Also on the defensive honorable mention list were linebacker Terrell Jacks and safety Collin Warmouth.

Roseburg finished the season 3-6 and in fifth place in the Southwest Conference. The Indians graduate only eight seniors and will return four All-Conference players.
