TRI-CITIES – It’s on to the first round of the state playoffs for the South Umpqua volleyball team. The Lady Lancers kept their season alive with a sweep against the Corbett Cardinals on Tuesday in a 4A play-in game.
South Umpqua won 25-20, 25-20, 25-21 in the three set match to end the season for the Cardinals.
South Umpqua (11-8; 8-2 FWL) advances to face Hidden Valley (20-3; 10-0 Skyline) in the first round of the 4A state playoffs. The Mustangs were the Skyline Conference champions and are ranked third by the OSAA. South Umpqua was co-champions of the Far West League and ranked 16th.
The first round match will be played at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Hidden Valley.
