It’s the final day of the regular season for a handful of Umpqua Valley volleyball teams on Thursday.

The Glide volleyball team finishes the regular season at 3A Mountain Valley leader Coquille. The Wildcats will finish fourth in the conference standings, but it does not appear they will reach the post season.

That is the case for local teams from the 2A Mountain View Conference. Oakland, Canyonville Christian Academy, and Riddle all finish the regular season Thursday, but they also don’t appear destined for a playoff run. Oakland heads to Crow, Canyonville Christian Academy hosts Lost River, and Riddle welcomes in Bonanza.

At the 1A level, the Skyline League volleyball playoffs begin Thursday. Yoncalla faces New Hope Christian  at 5 p.m. and the winner moves on to face Days Creek immediately after. In other match-ups, Glendale is facing Elkton and the winner will move on to face Camas Valley Thursday night. Division winners North Douglas and Powers are awaiting the winners from tonight’s matches to play on Saturday.

In soccer, it’s not quite season finale time yet in the Far West League. There are still two games left to play for South Umpqua and Douglas. The Lancers host Coquille for both boys and girls matches, while Douglas welcomes in North Bend. The Trojan boys are still battling for a chance to play in the post season.

The Sutherlin soccer teams will finish the Sky-Em League season on Thursday and the Lady Bulldogs are looking to build some momentum for the playoffs. Sutherlin clinched a second place finish in the girls standings and should host a play-in game. Prior to that, though, the Lady Bulldogs will visit Sky-Em League opponent Elmira. The girls play first at 6 p.m. and the boys follow at 7 p.m.
