EUGENE – The Roseburg boys soccer team was shutout for the first time this season in a 5-0 loss to Southwest Conference leader South Eugene on Wednesday.
The Indians fell behind 3-0 at halftime and did not recover in the second half. South Eugene had five different players score in the contest.
The loss doesn’t change Roseburg’s chances of reaching the state playoffs, but it does make the margin for error smaller. The Indians remain in 4th place and will earn a playoff berth if they can stay there. To do so, Roseburg will have to keep Willamette off its heels.
The Indians and Wolverines will square off on Saturday at 1 p.m. A win will go a long way to helping Roseburg clinch that fourth seed.
