CORVALLIS – Oregon State football is once again looking for a head football coach after it was announced Monday that Oregon State University and coach Gary Andersen have mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately.

Andersen was in his third year leading the Beavers, but had not seen much success on the field. Oregon State has gone 1-5 so far this year and 0-3 in the Pac-12. Andersen was 7-23 overall with OSU, but was coming into the 2017 season with renewed hope after his best season in Corvallis.

Oregon State went 4-8 in 2016 and capped off the season with a 34-24 win in the Civil War against Oregon. The Beavers were considered by many as a possible bowl team in 2017, but they have lost four-straight and the only Oregon State victory this season was a 35-32 win over Portland State.

Cornerbacks coach Cory Hall will take over as the interim head coach for the rest of the season, while Athletic Director Scott Barnes begins a nationwide search for Andersen’s replacement.

Andersen was under contract with Oregon State through the 2021 season, but he released the university of its future obligations and payments as he stepped down. A report from ESPN says that Andersen left over $12 million on the table by stepping down.
