ROSEBURG – The Roseburg boys soccer team took another step closer to clinching a post season berth with a 2-1 win over South Medford on Thursday.
Junior Stephen Lake scored both goals for the Indians. His goal at the 35th minute put Roseburg up 2-0. South Medford snuck a shot past Tribe goaltender Gage Baylis-Hines in the 45th minute, but the sophomore held off the Panthers to keep the Indians in front.
Roseburg is in fourth place and has the edge on the final playoff spot out of the Southwest Conference. If the Indians can hold on over the final four regular season game, they would reach the first round of the playoffs for the first time since 2012.
Up next, the Indians will try to get by league leader South Eugene on Wednesday.
