ROSEBURG – The Roseburg boys will try to build some momentum on their push to the playoffs after nearly upsetting the Grants Pass Cavemen on Tuesday. The Indians let a 2-0 lead slip away against the conference’s only undefeated team. A late red card against the Tribe gave Grants Pass an edge and the Cavemen took advantage of the short-handed Roseburg squad to salvage a tie.
The Tribe (4-4-1; 2-4-1 SWC) is currently in fourth place and in line to receive an automatic playoff spot at the end of the regular season. But with five conference games left to play, Roseburg will have to stay sharp. The Indians take on fifth place South Medford on Thursday night in a match that could go a long way to deciding which team holds on to the final playoff spot.
The contest kicks off at 7 p.m.
The Douglas boy’s soccer team is in a three-way tie for second place in the Far West League and the Trojans will try to take down league leader Brookings-Harbor on Thursday. The No. 2 ranked Bruins have not lost a game all year. A win for Douglas (3-3-2; 2-1-2 FWL) could propel the Trojans into second place all by themselves.
