GRANTS PASS – The Roseburg boys soccer team almost accomplished the one thing no other team in the Southwest Conference has done this season. The Indians nearly handed Grants Pass its first conference loss of the year, but the Cavemen rallied late to salvage a 2-2 tie Tuesday night.
Jacob Wilson scored goals in the 22nd and 60th minutes of the game to give Roseburg a 2-0, but the senior was later given a red card at the 63rd minute and Roseburg was forced to play the rest of the game down one player. Grants Pass took advantage of the short-handed Indians and evened up the game before the final whistle.
The draw moves Roseburg into fourth place in the conference standings and the Indians are on the verge of earning a playoff berth. There are still five conference games left to play for the Tribe. Next up is South Medford on Thursday.
