The second half of the fall sports season continues on Tuesday and for many local teams there are big tests on the schedule.
The Roseburg volleyball team continues its stretch run through the Southwest Conference and the Indians will need to make up some ground in the standings if they hope to defend their conference title from a year ago.
Roseburg will have a golden chance to quickly draw closer to the top spot in the SWC when the team travels to Eugene to face Sheldon. The Irish are currently undefeated in conference play, while Roseburg is tied for second with North Medford. A win would bring the Indians within a game of the Irish in the standings.
Roseburg and Sheldon tipoff at 6:45 p.m.
In other volleyball matches on Tuesday, the South Umpqua Lancers host the Douglas Trojans in a rivalry game. South Umpqua is currently second in the Far West League standings, while Douglas sits in fifth. The Lancers are trying to keep pace with North Bend for the No. 2 spot in the standings. The match tips at 6:30 p.m. in Myrtle Creek.
At the lower levels, the top teams in the 1A Skyline North and South divisions will square off. North Douglas leads the North standings with an 8-0 record, while Camas Valley is on top in the South with a 5-2 record. The two sides meet at 5:15 p.m.
In soccer on Tuesday, the Roseburg boys have won their last two games and are looking to make it three-in-a-row by handing Grants Pass its first league loss of the season. The Indians are 2-4 on the year and coming off a shutout win over Sheldon. The Cavemen are 5-0-2 and tied for first with South Eugene.
The match begins at 6 p.m. in Grants Pass. The Roseburg girls will take the field against the Lady Cavers before the boys at 4 p.m.
