SUTHERLIN — For the first time since moving into the Sky-Em League, the Sutherlin Bulldogs have a league win.

The Bulldog defense shut down Sisters (0-2, 2-3 Sky-Em) with big play after big play and the Sutherlin offense was able to get a touchdown in the first and fourth quarters for a 14-0 victory.

Quarterback Cade Meisner hit Tristan Vincent with a 33-yard touchdown pass with 4:41 to go in the first quarter for a 6-0 lead and that turned out to be enough.

Sutherlin (1-1, 2-3 Sky-Em) sealed the win with another score with 5:49 left in the game when Andrew Smalley went three yards to make it 12-0. Then Smalley caught the 2-point conversion pass from Meisner for the final points.

It was the first time the Bulldogs have won two games since Sean Radford took over as head coach in 2013 and Radford was pleased with the effort.

“Our defense did a great job,” said Radford. “Andrew Smalley was all over the place, he did a great job inside, and Will Singleton, Hunter Strong, and Korbyn Jones did a really nice job on defense.”

Jones also had seven catches for 75 yards on offense.

Meisner was 14-for-30 passing for 146 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions.

The Bulldogs, who had eight turnovers last week, had none against Sisters.

Sutherlin will visit Elmira next Friday.
