ROSEBURG – There’s a showdown coming in the Southwest Conference volleyball standings Tuesday night. The Roseburg ladies will host North Medford in a battle for second place.
The Black Tornado moved ahead of Roseburg by defeating the Indians in a conference game one week ago. The Tribe will try to enact some revenge for the conference loss and climb back up the standings with a win. The contest starts at 6:45 p.m. in the Roseburg High School gym.
South Umpqua volleyball is also looking to climb back up the standings and into the league title conversation. The Lady Lancers are tied for third in the Far West League, but will take on first place North Bend on the road on Tuesday night. A win for the Lancers would move them into at least a share of second place. The match begins at 6:30 p.m. on the coast.
At the lower level, there’s not a lot of room that separates first from third in the 1A Skyline League. League leader North Douglas is currently 7-0, while third place Elkton is 6-2. The two teams are close in the standings and will square off Tuesday at 6 p.m.
