WINSTON – The Douglas boys soccer team won in a landslide against South Umpqua to win its first Far West League game on Thursday afternoon. Senior Quindon Parson had a hat trick to lead the Trojans (2-3; 1-1 FWL) to a 5-0 win over the Lancers (0-5; 0-2 FWL). Max Jung and Evan Salthouse each added goals as well.
The South Umpqua girls were able to edge out a 1-0 win over the Douglas ladies on Thursday in Winston. It took until the 70th minute for the deciding goal to hit the back of the net. South Umpqua junior Jenna Castro scored the goal to give the Lancers their first win of the season.
