MEDFORD – In a battle for second place in the Southwest Conference volleyball standings, the Roseburg girls had an off night and succumbed to North Medford, 3-0.
The match was close all the way through. The first set went to extra points (26-24) and both teams scored 20-plus points (25-20) in the second set. North’s win in the third set was the largest margin of the match at 25-18.
The Indians (7-3; 4-2 SWC) fell to third place in the conference standings. Roseburg will visit South Albany High School for a tournament this weekend.
In the Far West League, South Umpqua remained in a tie for first place after sweeping Brookings-Harbor on Thursday (25-15, 25-12, 25-17 - 3-0)
. The Lady Lancers are still tied atop the standings with North Bend and Marshfield. All three teams are 3-1 in league play.
South Umpqua will play in a tournament in Sisters over the weekend.
