ROSEBURG – It’s Friday and tonight the high school football season gets into the heart of the schedule. Tonight, a majority of the local high school football teams will be facing a league opponent.
The Roseburg Indians dropped their first conference game of the year at Grants Pass last week, but will try to bounce back against a South Eugene team on short rest. The Axemen had their game last week against North Medford delayed due to poor air quality and finally played on Monday night in Eugene.
With only three days off after losing 27-8 against the Black Tornado, the Axemen now get ready to face Roseburg at Finlay Field.
The Indians are not only looking for their first Southwest Conference win this year, but the first under second-year head coach Dave Heuberger. Tonight’s contest kicks off at 7 p.m. Tune in for broadcast coverage starting at 6:45 p.m. on CBS Sports Radio 1490 The Score or watch online at 541radio.com.
The Sutherlin football team is riding high off of its first win in more than two years. The Bulldogs defeated North Valley last week and now the team will try to snap a lengthy league losing streak.
Sutherlin hasn’t won a league game since joining the Sky-Em League in 2014. Tonight the Bulldogs face a winless Junction City team at home. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Tune in for coverage starting at 6:45 p.m. on i101 FM or listen online HERE.
Far West League play starts tonight as well. Douglas went 2-1 through the nonleague portion of the schedule and will try to start league play with a victory over winless Siuslaw. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Florence.
