SUTHERLIN – Sutherlin girls basketball coach Josh Grotting is one of 50 nationwide finalists for the US Cellular Most Valuable Coach award.
Grotting has led the Sutherlin girls basketball team to four consecutive state titles and 10 of the last 11 league championships. He is the only finalist out of the 50 that works in a state west of the Rockies.
Public voting started Tuesday to narrow the field of 50 coaches down to 15. The 15 coaches that are selected will earn $5,000 for their school and the coach that receives the most votes will win a $50,000 community grant. Voting ends October 9th.
