ROSEBURG – The season is off an rolling for the Umpqua volleyball team and this week one of the RiverHawks picked up the team’s first conference honors of the season. Defensive specialist Kyrie Keffer was named the South Region Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the Northwest Athletic Conference on Monday.

Keffer, a freshman from Klamath Falls, helped guide the UCC volleyball team to a 3-3 record and a 2nd place finish in the Clackamas Tournament last week. Keffer tallied 65 digs over the six-game span.

This is the first weekly conference award for the RiverHawks volleyball team this season. Umpqua will get back to action on Friday with its first conference match against Clark College at home. The conference volleyball matches will be streamed on YouTube and the season schedule can be found on uccriverhawks.com.
